App has blank screens, blank threads, super slow to send/receive. When will this be fixed?
0
Got a new Pixel 5. Message app opens to blank screen most of the time. Sometimes I can see my message threads. Usually can click on one thread, but when I back out and select a different thread, I get a blank screen again. I have to close out and restart app to see individual message threads. Takes forever to send and receive messages, sometimes up to 5 min. Some times the message never sends. Have done all the troubleshooting online (restart, update, clear data, clear cache, toggle on/off SIM) - when will this app actually function? I can't disable/re-enable because it's native to my phone. I keep going back to Textra to see what messages I've missed. Would LOVE it if it worked.

Can you reboot into safe mode and see if the issue continues there

I had a lovely Verizon rep who was on the phone with me for over an hour. We tried disabling, changing settings, clearing the cache/data, and rebooting in safe mode. NONE of it worked. I finally had to do a factory re-set. That solved the problem, but it's the most time-consuming and inconvenient solution!

For reference, in addition to the problems I stated above, Messages also wouldn't delete messages, just go through the motions and leave the thread in my app. Everything seems to be resolved after the factory reset. As background, I upgraded from an LG G6 to Pixel 5 on Verizon. Something with this app must have glitched during the activation and/or transfer of data. But I've also read in forums that these same problems happened after Android updates, without people switching phones. Hoping Google gets it figured out soon. Just detailing my whole dilemma about Google Messages for all the other people out there googling this problem!

I am having the same issues, When I updated Messages app last week or so my message app started to give me problems, I can see my list of messages received most of the time but when I open any message I get a blank white screen, On other occasions when I open the message app I just get a blank screen. Sometimes I get "Message working in the background" notification. I have tried cleaning data and cache which has made not difference, it worked for a couple of messages and then I get the same problems.

I uninstalled the last version update of message app and message app is working fine now on the older version, the version of message I'm using now is version 6.0.117 , my cell phone is a Google Pixel 3XL, is there any issues with the new version of message app that is causing this problem, or is this a cell Pixel phone problem?

Scott, we have been hearing this as a response for the better part of nearly two weeks at this point. How is escalation going? Has there been any feedback or guidance from Google on this?

I am also experiencing this issue with a Pixel5.  Just migrated from a Pixel3 this morning, no issues at all on that phone.  I might just keep it and send this one back, messaging is kind of a critical feature I look for in a mobile phone.
