Why is it then that sometimes my outgoing messages are dark blue and other times they are light blue?  If different colors aren't supported then why are my messages occasionally showing up different colors?

This is what I'm seeing on my phone and in my browser.

Hi Susan Denison, welcome to the Messages User Forum!

The color of the message denotes the way the message was sent.  Light blue is SMS / MMS, dark blue is RCS (enhanced messaging).

Hope this helps!

I agree with this guy ^^^ It's nearly 2020! Supposed to be the "tech age", (*Rolls eyes*) and a simple text bubble color can't be customized? The VERY REASON I am an Android user instead of an Apple user is because I DO NOT LIKE a "ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL" approach as to personalization!

I loved my Note 8 because changing themes on it would make it feel like I had a whole new phone everyday if I wanted. Keyboard, sounds, EVERYTHING was customizable. Now, I am using a new Moto phone and it doesn't have themes like Galaxy. So I am stuck looking at this ugly a$$ blueish/purple text bubble all the time! I had to download a huge clunky 3rd party app just to customize my keyboard!

I would prefer to use ONE PLATFORM for everything! (Like Google) But, we are forced to find other options! Like how long did it take Google to finally offer customization for the search bar widget? (Which I am extremely grateful for btw).

When will these devs start listening?? 👏👏👏

Thanks for letting me know my new phone is a piece of junk and I'm not sure if I will keep it in the future.

It sucks that I'm also not seeing the option. This completely destroyed how happy I am with the phone. I hate this neon green. So sad
