Android Messages dot disappeared 0 Recommended Answers 9 Replies 30 Upvotes

The notification dot on Android Messages suddenly stopped working on my pixel 3.
I used to get a text icon on the notification bar and a dot on the app icon, but the dot stopped appearing.
I tried turning off the dot setting and turning it back on and it still won't work.
Just loaded the April 2019 security update.

Try clearning the app cache of the messages app

Mine is not working either, even with the settings set correctly. I have moto G6. Anybody know how to fix? Cleaning cache did not help either.

I fixed mine by following instructions that I found online. It is to do with the Pixel Launcher. Go to Settings, Apps, All Apps, find Pixel Launcher, go to Advanced settings and then Additional settings. The top option is Notification dots. This will be set to Off so you can turn it to On. Then your dots come back. I think the dots disappeared when the last update took place.
