Messages app keeps changing my notification sound. 1 Recommended Answer 52 Replies 148 Upvotes

I have a custom notification sound that I like to use when I get text messages. Typically, it works for a while. But, seemingly randomly, the Messages app changes the notification sound back to my phone's default tone, and when I go to my notification settings, every single conversation has it's own notification properties, and each conversation is set to my phone's default ringtone.
People have suggested to delete the app's data and cache. I've done that, and it works for a while. But the same thing happens over again. I have to go into each conversation and change the default sound to the one I want to use.
I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S9+ with Android 9.0.
