Font size in Google Messages super tiny all of a sudden! Help!

On 5/24/24 I opened up a text message and the font was super tiny!!! I can barely read it and it hurts my eyes. The "Help" suggestion I'm given says to change the settings on my phone, but the text is fine everywhere else. It even looks fine when I open up my messaging app "home" and I see the list of texts. But once I open up a particular text message thread, the font goes from size 11 to size 4!!! Please help! I have searched everywhere I can think of to change this setting!

I have exactly the same problem. It began 5/24/24 also for me, and pinch-to-zoom no longer works so I can't change the font size in a text message thread. I have turned on Magnification in Settings -> Accessibility -> Magnification and now I can quickly tap the screen three times to zoom/enlarge.

The font size gets smaller or larger, depending on the time of day, I guess. I like Google messaging and it's features, but this is a simple problem that Google should be able to fix, but they aren't. Going back to Samsung messaging (sigh).

I had the same as well. I fixed it by opening the messenger app, 3 dots on the top/right, then choosing Appinfo, then choose uninstall updates. this worked for me and removed the google messenger and reactivated the builtin Andriod messenger App.

If you adjust the font size too big using your phone, some apps have the font go off the screen cuz it's too big then and you can't get to everything!! I had that happen in my banking app and I couldn't get to one of the things I needed to because it was off the bottom of the screen.

Margie, i had the same issue on my bank website. But i learned by resesrching and trying ,that , if your bank siite is open and you cant fill in the field (I was coping and pasting from the google sesrch area and going back to the bank site and pasting.) You can leave the bank site open and go to your phones settings/ then Apps/ . I. Apps find your app for the bank or which ever site doesnt fit the screen. And force stop it. Close the website and reopen it.

I did this and it was just fine after that.

Idk if you managed to fix your but I just used my finger to pinch out and make bigger like you do a photo and it worked and stayed

This pinch method works for me, too. I am bewildered that Google, and all the other online help sites, do not mention this easy fix. Almost 100% of them refer to adjusting font size in the phone settings, which does NOT work.

You can change the size of the font by stretching or reducing it using two fingers as you would use for any other app.

you can just use your 2 fingers on the screen and adjust whatever size you prefer. It just worked for me and my screen went huge not small so I Google it like everyone else on here ,😁and some said that would work and it Definitely does!!
