Messages makes it easy to use the Google Assistant for helpful information, right from your conversation screen. Messages shows suggestions about the weather, restaurants, or movies, so you can get more information from the Google Assistant with a tap.
In addition to the suggestion chips, you can get help from the Google Assistant at any point when you’re using Messages. Just hold the Home button with the Messages app open on your phone, and your Assistant will pop up to answer your questions and share results back to the conversation should you decide to do so. You can also press the + sign, and you’ll see a new row for the Assistant with “Movies,” “Restaurants” and “Weather.”
Google Assistant will be enabled automatically on all eligible Messages app versions. To customize your suggestions, follow the instructions below or visit our help center article for more information:
You can decide which suggestions to get within your conversations.
- Open the Messages app .
- At the top right, tap More Settings.
- Tap Suggestions in chat.
- Turn Assistant suggestions on or off.
- Turn Smart Reply on or off.
- Turn Suggested actions on or off.
