To prevent spam, you can turn on 'Hide international messages'. This feature moves messages from international phone numbers that aren't in your contacts to the 'Spam and blocked' folder. These messages are only moved on your device and aren't revealed to Google.
Enable hide international messages
Important: This feature only works if your device has a Singapore SIM card.
- On your Android device, open Google Messages

- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Initial
Messages settings.
- Scroll to 'Protection and safety'.
- Tap Protection and safety.
- Turn on Protection and safety
Hide international messages.
After you've enabled hide international messages
Messages will be moved to the 'Spam and blocked folder' when:
- You get a message from an international phone number that isn't in your contacts.
- You're added to a group chat by an international phone number that isn't in your contacts.
Move international conversations to your inbox
To move an international conversation from the 'Spam and blocked' folder to your inbox:
- On your Android device, open Google Messages

- At the top right, tap your Profile picture or Initial
Spam and blocked.
- Select the conversation that you want to remove from the folder.
- From the conversation, tap Move to inbox.
Tip: All future messages in the conversation will be delivered to your inbox.
