Create branding assets

Shopping Actions US + Shopping Actions France

This article includes step-by-step instructions for creating branding assets for Shopping Actions.

Requirements

The instructions we provide require Adobe Illustrator (AI) and Adobe Photoshop to create your branding assets. Your branding assets will appear on the Shopping Actions store page.

Note: For merchants in the US, you'll also need to download the required retailer asset pack for templates and files and folder.

How to create your logo

  1. Open Adobe Illustrator.
  2. Place your logo in the "Assets" folder.
  3. Open the AI file titled "storelogo_name.ai."
  4. Double-click the largest circle in the "Logo" column to enter the symbol.
  5. Paste your logo inside the circular symbol. Make sure your logo image is 100% vector and in RGB color mode.
Refer our examples of acceptable and unacceptable logos to make sure you submit your logo in the right format.
  6. Export your logo.
    1. Click File > Export > Export for screens.
    2. In the "Artboards" tab, make sure all 4 artboards are selected.
    3. In the “Export to:” field, choose the desired folder.
    4. In the “Formats:” field, set the scale to 1x, and format to PNG.
    5. In the “Prefix:” field, enter the filename as storelogo_[YourCompanyName]. For example, storelogo_Acme.
    6. Click Export artboard.

How to create your favicon (optional for US, required for France)

To create your favicon asset, follow these instructions:
  1. Open Adobe Illustrator.
  2. Place your vector artwork in the "Assets" folder.
  3. Open the AI file titled "storelogo_merchant_favicon.ai" and double-click the circle to enter the symbol. You must use only .eps or .ai file formats for your logo. Do not use PNG or JPG files.
  4. Paste your vector artwork. Your artwork can be 1-2 letters or an icon derived from your logo. Make sure your artwork follows the logo format requirements.
  5. Export your logo.
    1. Click File > ExportExport for screens.
    2. In the "Artboards" tab, select the Favicon artboard.

Pick your background color

Choose a background color that will appear next to your banner logo on your Shopping Actions storefront. Make sure that you use a color from the RGB color space, and also use hexadecimal values when entering them in Merchant Center.

You can see examples of RGB colors and hexadecimal values at websites like color encyclopedia

How to create your photo banners (optional)

To create your photo banner asset, follow these instructions:

  1. Open Adobe Photoshop.
  2. Choose your merchant photo and place it in the "Assets" folder.
Your photo must be horizontal and in high resolution (wider than 2000px) and ideally horizontal.
  3. Open the 5 PSD files and place your image inside each file.
These 5 PSD assets are the standard sizes used across the Google web and app ecosystem.
  4. For each PSD file, resize the photo so that it covers the full available area within the asset. If you need to crop your image, focus on the most important part of the image.
  5. In the “Layers” panel, make sure the photo blend mode is set to “Screen.” This is to ensure that the store text is readable on your store page.
  6. Export your 5 assets.
    1. Click File > Export > Export as
    2. Choose .jpg as the format format and set the quality to 60%
    3. Click Export all.

Once you’ve created your branding assets, you can upload them in Merchant Center for Shopping Actions.
