On display to order

The on display to order (ODO) feature lets you advertise items that are displayed in-store, but not immediately available for purchase (e.g. large furniture items). When a shopper clicks on your local inventory ad, they see that the item is available to order on your local storefront. The shopper can then visit your store to view an ODO item, order it, and have it shipped to them or to your store for pickup.

To get started with on display to order for local inventory ads, contact your Google team to ensure eligibility and compliance with the requirements listed below.

Eligibility

To use on display to order (ODO), you must meet the following requirements:

  • Deliver within a 90-day delivery window. Items must be deliverable to the customer’s home within 3 months from when the order is placed in-store.
  • Provide information on your shipping cost and policy. The URL you provide for your local storefront must deliver shoppers to full shipping details for the ODO product, such as cost and policy.

Implementation

To implement the on display to order feature, you must update your local feed and submit the URL for a webpage that contains details about your on display to order policies.

Update your local feed

Add the availability attribute to your local product inventory feed and use "on display to order" as the value. For ODO items, use “1” as the value for the required quantity attribute.

Add other available color, size, and fabric variants for the items on display in your local products feed. Also, ensure that information about the other variants is clearly visible in-store (eg. informational brochure or color swatches with variant pricing, if applicable).

Submit your ODO webpage URL

Provide the URL for the webpage where you offer customers full details on your on display to order policies and procedures:

  1. Log in to your Merchant Center account.
  2. Click Local inventory ads in the left side menu.
  3. Click on the country bar for the country you would like to display ODO on your local inventory ads.
  4. Add the URL for your webpage that describes the shipping details for on display to order products (e.g. cost, policy).
  5. Click Save.

Review your on display to order shipping and policy URL status

Your on display to order status indicates whether your web page and business are eligible to use the on display to order feature in local inventory ads. Follow the steps below to see your status:

  1. Log in to your Merchant Center account.
  2. Click Local inventory ads in the left side menu.
  3. Click on your country’s program bar.
  4. See the icon next to the on display to order field.

Your on display to order shipping and policy URL may be:

  • Verified: No further action needed.
  • Pending Google review: Check back soon. The URL for your on display to order web page is under review. This process can take up to a week.
  • Rejected: The Google review rejected your URL. Ensure your URL and business meets the ODO eligibility requirements and make any necessary updates. Then, submit your on display to order URL.

If you have on display to order products in your inventory feed, you can't request inventory verification until your ODO URL is Verified.
