energy_efficiency_class [energy_efficiency_class]: Definition

Use the energy_efficiency_class [energy_efficiency_class] attribute to tell users the energy efficiency class of your product.

When to use

The energy_efficiency_class [energy_efficiency_class] attribute is optional, but you may be required to provide this information based on local laws or regulations. For example, if your products target any of the EU member states or Switzerland, consider the legal requirements on this matter defined in the national implementation acts of the EU directive 2010/30/EU and any other applicable local laws.

It is strongly recommended that you submit energy_efficiency_class [energy_efficiency_class] for applicable products. For example, you might need to provide this class for these types of products: 

  • Refrigerators
  • Freezers
  • Washing machines 
  • Tumble dryers
  • Combined washer-dryers
  • Wine-storage appliances
  • Dishwashers
  • Ovens
  • Water heaters
  • Hot water storage appliances
  • Air conditioners
  • Electrical lamps

  • Televisions

Minimum requirements

These are the requirements that you'll need to meet to show ads for your product. If you don't follow these requirements, we'll disapprove your product and let you know on the Diagnostics page of your Merchant Center account. 

  • There are no minimum requirements for this attribute. Keep in mind that you still need to follow the formatting guidelines or the information that you submit won't be usable.

Best practices

These are best practices that can help you go beyond the basic requirements to optimise your product data for performance. 

  • Provide the energy efficiency class for water heating when submitting a water heater, solar water heater, heat pump water heater or a package with a water heater and a solar device. 
  • Provide the energy efficiency class for heating (average season) when submitting a reversible air conditioner.
