Why this issue is happening

Products disapproved for 'missing inventory data' are products that don't have corresponding inventory data in your local inventory data. Below is a list of common reasons for missing inventory data.

If you submitted an inventory file, the reasons why your inventory data has been rejected can be found in the issues shown under the 'Latest update' tab.
If you're unable to identify the reasons for your missing inventory error, contact our support team.

Common reasons for missing inventory data

Local inventory ads and free listings are opted in for all of your products. But all the products may not be available in your physical shops, which could lead to the missing inventory data error. If you're certain that the products shown with this error are available for free local listings and local inventory ads, review the following reasons:

  • There may be missing required attributes like availability or shop code in your inventory data.
  • If you're using pick up later with product data, ensure that:
  • You may have manually added inventory data in Merchant Center. To fix this, remove the manually added data and reupload it.
  • Business Profiles for your physical shops may not be linked to your Merchant Center.
    • If you've linked your shops using an email address, go to Business info and open the Shops tab. Then, click on 'View profiles' where it says 'There are additional Business Profiles associated with [email address] linked to this Merchant Center'.
  • There may be issues with the linked Business Profiles, like Unclaimed or Disabled Business Profile or missing shop codes.
    • If you've linked your Google Business Profiles using an email address, all of your business groups will be linked to the Merchant Center account. To check for Business Profile errors or missing shop codes, review the business groups in your Google Business Manager.
Note: The product ID is case sensitive. The information that you use to link items across your online and local data must match exactly.

How to fix your issue

To show your local products on Google, a product must be available in at least one shop.

Fix multiple products at once

Step 1 Go to Products in Merchant Center, then select the Needs attention tab.

Step 2 Use the filter icon above the table to find all products affected by your issue.

Step 3 Select the Download icon to download a list (.csv) of all affected products for all issues or this particular issue.

Step 4 Cross-reference the downloaded list with your uploaded local inventory data, and make sure that all products that are currently missing inventory data have inventory information.

Step 5 Re-upload your corrected local inventory data to Merchant Center using your chosen upload method.

Next steps

After making the requested changes, check that you've fixed the issue by making sure that it's no longer listed on the 'Needs attention' page.

Bear in mind:

  • Once you've identified the issue and addressed it, make sure that you update your inventory source.
  • If you're using pick up later with your product data, you'll have to update your product data instead of your inventory data.
  • Any changes to your Business Profiles can take up 24 hours to be reflected in the Merchant Center.
  • It may take some time for your change to be reflected on the Needs attention page.
