Use an image in the accepted format (JPEG, PNG, WebP, BMP, TIFF or GIF)
On this page
Reasons why the issue is happening
The image URL that you provided in your product data doesn't go to a valid image with an accepted format (JPEG, PNG, WebP, BMP, TIFF or GIF). Products with unsupported image types won't show in ads or free listings until you update their images.
If this is a new product, it will remain disapproved until Google can process the image. If it is an existing product, Google will revert to the previous image.
How to fix the issue
Add a new image URL to a valid image type for each product affected by this issue.
What if I update the image but keep the same URL?
Bear in mind that if you change the image but keep the same URL, it could take up to six weeks to detect and crawl the new image. Google recommends that you change the image filename and URL when you change the image.
Your product images aren't supported
- Make sure that your images are in one of the supported formats (JPEG (.jpg/.jpeg), WebP (.webp), PNG (.png), GIF (.gif), BMP (.bmp) and TIFF (.tif/.tiff)) and include the appropriate extensions for their filenames.
- Make sure that your images meet the size requirements. Learn more about image size requirements.
- To successfully process an image, its associated URL must link to an image file rather than to a script.
Your product image URLs aren't working correctly
- If your image URLs don't work, an image won't be displayed for your product in our listings.
- Check that all of your image URLs are working correctly.
- Make sure that there are no spaces within your image URLs. Each space should be replaced with the characters
%20. Otherwise, the server will not be able to crawl your image and it will not appear in results.
Avoid:http://www.example.com/my picture.jpg
Use:http://www.example.com/my%20picture.jpg - An image link should link directly to the URL of that image. If the image link in your data feed redirects to another URL, the server won't be able to grab a copy of your image to use when showing your product.
- The image URLs that redirect through ASP, PHP or ColdFusion scripts will also fail to be fetched.
