Re-enroll a device

Google Meet hardware

You can delete all user data and settings by wiping and re-enrolling Google Meet hardware devices, which include Meet hardware kits, Chromeboxes and Chromebases. You might want to wipe and re-enroll a device if you want to:

  • Reset a device that does not start correctly.
  • Re-enroll the device with a different domain.
  • Re-enroll a previously deprovisioned device.
  • Change the language of the device.

Before you begin

Before you can re-enroll a device, you need to wipe it. For details, see Wipe Chrome device data.

Deprovision a device 

Deprovisioning a device revokes the Google Meet hardware license for the device. 

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. Go to Menu and then Devicesand thenGoogle Meet hardwareand thenDevices.
  3. Choose an option:
    • To filter the devices by organizational unit or other criteria, see Choose devices by organizational unit.
    • To select one or more devices from the list, check the box next to each device.
  4. At the top left, click Deprovision.
  5. Confirm that you want to deprovision the device.

Re-enroll Google Meet hardware

Note: For customers subscribing to Google Meet hardware after March 7th, 2024, the Require enrollment privilege default value will be set to true.

To re-enroll a Chromebox, a Chromebase, or Google Meet hardware:

  1. Turn on your device.
  2. Attach a keyboard to the device.
  3. Using the Meet Compute System Recovery Utility, remove and reinstall the Chrome operating system for use with Google Meet. For details, go to Recover your Meet hardware system
  4. Complete the steps to enroll a device.

Note: To prevent unauthorized users from re-enrolling devices, opt in to Enrollment Privilege Enforcement. 

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. Go to Menu and then Devicesand thenGoogle Meet hardwareand thenSettings.
  3. In the Service settings panel, click Device enrollmentand thenturn Require enrollment privilege on.
