My son cannot get on Google Meet sessions.
- using a district-issued Chromebook
- trying to connect to a Google Meet hosted by a teacher within the same education domain
- stuck on "getting ready" page
- everyone else (other 12 students) had no problem getting into the meet
- tried to join another Meet session hosted by a different individual within the same education domain. He couldn't get into that session either (stuck on the same "getting ready" page)
- when using the same login from a different (non-district-issued) device, he can get in right away
- we also cleared cache, rebooted the Chromebook
What is causing this problem? Is there a setting in Chromebook or in a browser, or a Google Meet that prevents a user from joining?
Please help!

If you're experiencing this does it make any difference if you disable all extensions and add-ons? Or if you use a different web browser (if available)?
Extensions are frequently the problem, especially if they are designed to you interact with Meet in some way.

Same thing happening to me. Apparently it’s a known Google issue but I can’t find anything about it. Updated Chrome, cleared cookies, currently having to let him use my work laptop and not do my job. I hate this.

A tech specialist in our district thinks it's a camera issue.
It could be, but my kid gets stuck at the "Getting Ready" page, not on the page about choosing options for "Camera and Audio". It's possible Google Meet tries to initialize the camera before showing the page for Camera and Audio options. I have no way to know.
We still don't know what's causing it or how to fix it.

1. All extensions are disabled in Chrome?
2. The camera is turned off?
When you say it gets stuck on the "getting ready" page, do you mean the page where you ask to join the meeting?

Same problem for me, i could joing the meeting ymusing my android phone but I can't join thru chrome. Thus I cant present my ppt I have to ask the help of my workmates :(

If you have a bad internet connection, that should be your #1 suspect. Meet tends to load more slowly when you're not connected to the internet. Also, make sure the system admin has not blocked the server. If you want, you can try again with this link to the google meet home page.
