My computer settings are set up to output audio through my headphones, my Google Meet settings are set up to output to my system default, which is then headphones. I've tried different configurations of these settings (Default & Default, Default & Headphones, Headphones & Headphones). I've tried changing browsers (Safari & Chrome). No matter what I do, I cannot get Google Meet to play the audio from the meeting through the headphones I have plugged in. As far as I can tell, people can still hear me when they are plugged in, but I cannot hear them. I also know that when I unplug my headphones I can hear them and they can hear me. I'm very confused by this issue. I've restarted my computer, I've restarted my browser, I'm updated on all involved software. Please help, I'm at a loss.

I am having the same problem. I can hear youtube videos but not Google Meets. I have had had three Google Meet sessions where they have worked but six where thet have not. Go figure! Mine are wireless headphones with built in mic. I have tried to select them as the go-to device and Google Meet shows that they are selected. When they don't work in Google Meet I immediately switch to a youtube tab and they work.

I am having same problem, they can hear me but I cannot hear them. When I test mic and Audio in Google meeting testing page it works but then once I enter a live meeting or hangout nothing works.

This very annoying issue has been happening consistently to me for the past one or two months. Whenever I join a meeting in Google Meet, I can hear my colleagues through the laptop speakers. When I plug my headphones after I join the meeting, the audio still comes from the speakers. If I want to use the headphones then I have to close Chrome and open it again, then re-join the meeting. If I join the meeting with headphones plugged before joining, then they work fine, but if I unplug them and re-plug them, audio is now going through the speakers regardless of the fact I plugged in the headphones again. This only happens in Chrome and only for Meet. It doesn't happen in Firefox.

I am having the same issue. Using Samsung GearIconX earbuds. Microphone works and the group can hear me but i cannot hear them. If i go to youtube, i can hear just fine. Good settings has both the mic and the speakers as the same Gear option. When in Settings, the mic test works but the Audio test does not work. If i switch to computer speaker, the audio test works. Weird that that the mic would work but not the audio on the earbuds. Tried Removing the device from bluetooth settings and re adding.

Having the same problem. I don't have this problem on Microsoft Team meetings or Zoom meetings. Both are fully capable of recognizing the various bluetooth headphones, headsets and speakers I plug in. This looks like a failure of Google to design a robust product. I guess with free, you get what you pay for. And yeah, I'm a little frustrated. I do 30 meetings a week. I literally have to take my noise cancelling headphones off and put in ear buds for Google Meet meetings but not for any other video meetings I have on Zoom or other platforms.

Is there any update on this? I use this for work and my company has pays for this service. It is pretty unacceptable that this is happening to so many people yet google have found no fix for it

I am also having the same issue! My earbuds work with everything else on my computer. Sometimes it works fine with google meets, but most of the time this isn't the case!

I am having the exact same issue. My headphones are working fine until I start Google meet (and jitsi meet and Bigbluebutton). Once I have joined the meeting even YouTube in a new tab does not work. But my headset mic does work (they can hear me but I cant hear them.) If I switch to the new Microsoft edge (chromium) it all works fine .

For some reason, my last post was marked as off topic, so I'll just post it without technical info. My plug in headphones work perfectly with everything but google meets, and this is only a problem with Chrome on Windows for me. I can do meets with my mac, but I can't run certain software on it. I have all audio settings set to default.

We came here with the same problem and then started poking around our Google Meet settings. It turns out that the internal settings for Google Meet were not defaulted to the headset - even when our computer was able to switch easily in other programs like YouTube. We had to change both the mic and the audio settings to the default - headset tab. You have to open a Google Meet meeting in order to change it. Hope this helps!
