Use captions in a meeting

You can turn captions on to view subtitles as everyone speaks during a meeting. 

You can use captions in:

• Dutch (beta)
• English
• French
• German
• Italian (beta)
• Japanese (beta)
• Korean (beta)
• Mandarin (Traditional) (coming soon)
• Portuguese (beta)
• Portuguese (Brazil) 
• Russian (beta)
• Spanish (Mexico)
• Spanish (Spain)

Tip: If you record a call, captions will not appear on the recording.  

Turn captions on or off

How to: Enable captions in Google Meet

1. On your computer, go to Google Meet.
2. Join a meeting.
3. At the bottom, click Turn on captions or Turn off captions .

Change the language

How to: Change the language in Google Meet

1. At the bottom of the meeting screen, click Menu Captions .
2. Choose a language Apply.

Important: The language you select becomes the default until you change it.
