Join a video meeting

You can join a scheduled meeting from a calendar event, select the link, enter the meeting code, or dial in from your phone if the invitation includes a phone number.

If you weren’t directly invited to another organization's meeting (for example, someone forwarded the link), you can still select the link, but a meeting participant from that organization must approve your request to join. 

Not all users are allowed to create meetings, which requires a G Suite account. Your administrator must also turn on Meet for your organization. Learn more

Join from a calendar event

  1. In Calendar, open the event.
  2. To join the meeting, click the Join video call link.

Join a scheduled meeting from Meet

  1. Open the Hangouts Meet app.
  2. Swipe up from the bottom to view your scheduled meetings.
  3. Select a meeting from the list and tap Join.

Tap the meeting link URL

  1. Tap the meeting link sent to you via text or email. 
  2. Follow the onscreen prompts to join.

For example, someone in the meeting can send the meeting details in a text or email.

Enter the meeting code

You can join a meeting by entering the meeting code, which is the unique code at the end of the meeting link, such as abc-defg-hjk. The ‘-’ characters are optional.

  1. Open the Hangouts Meet app.
  2. Tap Menu Menu.
  3. Tap Move Use a meeting code.
  4. Enter the meeting code and choose an option:
    • If you’re signed in to your G Suite account, tap Join.
    • If you’re not signed in to a G Suite account, enter your name and tap Ask to join meeting.

Tip: To join a meeting hosted by another organization, you must enter the full URL (which includes the meeting code). For example

Dial in using a phone

If the meeting includes a dial-in number, you can tap the phone number included in the Calendar event or meeting invite for audio-only access.

  1. Open the Calendar event or meeting invite.
  2. Tap the phone number.
  3. If prompted, enter the PIN, and press #.


  • Press *6 to mute or unmute yourself from a phone.
  • The PIN is automatically entered if you tap the phone number from the Meet or Calendar app. 

More numbers

  • The phone number is based on the location of your mobile device. If your country is not yet supported, then the next best alternative is shown. 
  • To use an alternative number, open the meeting invitation or calendar event and select More phone numbers.


  • Dial-in participants count toward the maximum meeting limit.
  • If your organization has the G Suite Enterprise edition, a dial-in phone number is included for all meetings, unless disabled by your administrator. Anyone can join using the number, even if they are in a different organization or have a different G Suite edition.
  • You will be notified if someone in the call mutes you. Press *6 to unmute.
  • Regular call charges apply.
