Hi Keith,
You won't find many Google Maps directions that assume a maximum speed over what you are limited to - Google does not try to encourage speeders. At the absolute worst case, on a purely freeway route with 0 expected traffic, your actual vs predicted time will only be at most 13% longer. On most normal routes, this will be an awful lot closer.

Driving at or near the speed limit drains the battery faster.
I live near a motorway(freeway) and many of the destinations I drive to are near a junction.
Regularly, the ETA extends minute by minute because I'm driving at 60 not the usual 70.
Max speed on routing options very much wanted.

neither TomTom nor Sygic have these options. I downloaded them thinking they would. Also they charge you to use the apps. It's sad that so many people want this feature, but Google likely won't produce it, because there is no way that it would make them any more money. I don't expect them to do things that don't make them money, but the human condition is sad. Nothing is worthwhile if it is not profitable

because they have a
"We know better then your" attitude.
You can't adjust for rain sgtors, rush hour
or time of day.
