Google Maps not working in Xiaomi mobile phones?
Hi guys! It seems that Google Map is not working anymore after some updates on my Xiaomi MI SE 8 (MIUI 11.0.2). There is not blue dot. I've tried all the usual tips (clearing cache etc.) but no success.
On the other hand, GPS is working properly in the Chinse app "Baidu Maps".
Any clues on how to solve it?
Thanks in advance.

you are saying google maps shows your location for about a minute? so you are able to use google maps with the blue dot for about a minute, then it goes grey? once you close google maps, then re-open, it works for another minute, and goes grey again?
could you please let us know:
- device make and model?
- android operating system version?
- google maps version?

I have Xiaomi Mi 6X with Android 9. Maps version is the latest.

Xiaomi 8 SE, bought in China, latest version MIU 11.0.2
android 10
Google maps latest version 10.41.2, tried a few earlier versions, same problem
I have done most of it like A-GPS to google, but this doesn't seem to be the reason. gave permission to maps, services and google play to always for location.
It must be related to something else.

i do not believe this is a google maps-specific problem, from what i understand most/all of you to be reporting, for the moment. there must be something at the operating system level that is causing the problem - that is why the problem only started after the update of the operating system / miui.
some settings must have changed with the update.
it is difficult for me to figure out because i do not have enough information about what each of you are experiencing, and i do not have a miui phone.

i dont know why the thread i answered will get merged here, anyway...
go to setting -> application setting-> authorization management -> application right management-> find google play service and give it the right to use gps with no restriction.
The cause as far as i can tell is google map ask for gps once when the app start, then use google play service to track gps data, and everytime you update miui, it overwrite some settings include google play service's access right
edit....
oic... it is this exact thread, but the UI changed so much i can't recognize at all......
I fixed this problem many times across multiple xiaomi device. usually can be solved by giving unlimited right to certain related google service (NOT the app that you want to use/fix) . usually need to do it again everytime miui update....

I got it...
give permissions for
(1) google map,
(2) google play services and
(3) google play store
Always allow access to location services.

thanks cfanatic
