The timeline feature is not available on new phone.

I created a zip file of the timeline data from my old phone using Google takeout and I followed the steps below in the official documentation and saw the message that the import was successful, but it still didn't load at all.

(The image below is a translation of the image after it has been backed up.)

And on my new phone, the timeline is not being recorded at all. I've tried many times to fix this problem, but nothing has worked.  The photo below is a timeline record left on an old phone.

This photo is a timeline that is not being recorded on the new phone.

Location history is enabled in my account settings and it is still being recorded on my old phone. Please help me fix this.

hello js,

welcome to the google maps community forum! is the new device an s25? and did you use smart switch?

Yes, that's correct. The device model is S25 Ultra, and I am using Smart Switch. Today, I received the following response from Samsung Members and followed the given procedure. After that, the timeline was temporarily displayed starting from the date I activated the new phone. However, when I backed up and restored the timeline data from my old phone, it reverted to the original state where no dates were displayed.

Below is the response from Samsung Members:

[Deleting Google Play Services and Google Maps Updates]

1. Go to Settings > Apps > Google Play Services > Tap the menu in the top right corner > Uninstall updates

2. Go to Settings > Apps > Google Maps > Tap the menu in the top right corner > Uninstall updates

[Updating Google Play Services and Google Maps]

1. Open the Google App > Search for "Google Play Services" > Select "Install" in the Google Play section > Update (If there is no update button, it is already up to date)

2. Open Play Store > Search for Google Maps > Update

3. Restart the device

[Google Maps Timeline Settings and Verification]

1. Go to Settings > Google > Select your account > Manage Google Account > Data & Privacy tab > Timeline > Turn off and then turn it back on

2. Go to Settings > Location > Location Services > Improve Location Accuracy > Enable Improve Location Accuracy

3. Open Google Maps > Find your current location

4. In Google Maps, tap "Your profile" at the bottom > Timeline > Tap the cloud icon in the top right corner > Verify account identity > Enable Backup

5. Tap the menu next to Backup Data > Import

6. Wait up to 24 hours to check if the timeline data updates

hi js, i suggest you follow procedure again, then give it a week or more, without importing the old data first.

no need to immediately import. leave the data intact on the old device for the moment, until all of this is sorted out.
