Neither my saved nor my favorited places show on my map anymore since yesterday. I have tried logging in and out of my account on google maps, restarted the app, and switched the visibility of the list off and on again, but it’s still now showing

Hi everyone
We've been told by Google that if you start the map with the default map (no transit/traffic/satellite) it should work as usual. They are still working on a fix for satellite, but this should help in the meantime.
Thanks

Hi Tushar M
A few users have mentioned the same problem, and they seem to have fixed it by uninstalling the app and reinstalling it.
Could you try that and please let me know how you get on.
Thanks

I uninstalled the app and reinstalled. The saved locations showed for about 30 seconds and then disappeared after closing the app. Do you have a longer term solution?

Same problem!! I have over 500 places saved around 20+ countries and was relying on GMaps, but I guess I now have to go back to good old documents I control. These companies invade our privacy, sell it, and then leave us without what we bargained for.

IPad Mini 4, iOS 12.1.1, which I upgraded to 12.2 tonight in an attempt to solve he problem, which started today.
Saved places display fine on my iPhone 6S, iOS 12.2, and my iMac.
I’ve tried everything other people have except uninstalling the App. The fact that this happened BEFORE I upgraded to 12.2, and isn’t happening on my iPhone 12.2, tells me that it isn’t an iOS problem.

This is an addition to my postabove. I just noticed something very odd on my MacBook Pro 2012, OS 10.14.3
The saved places show on the map when Ii’m zoomed WAY out, e.g., I can see the entire country of Romania. HOWEVER, when I zoom in at all, they vanish. (normally I use them to find places in a city). Zoom all the way back out, they reappear.
On my iPhone 6S, iOS 12.1.4 (correction), the places are maintained regardless of the zoom.
Recommended Answer
15.4.3 on iPad Mini 4, where it doesn’t show, and iPhone 6S, where it works fine.
Running it in the browser on my MacBook, where It shows/disappears depending on the zoom level.
Recommended Answer
Recommended answer only works if I go to “your places” then to “saved” then to “starred”. The saved places appears on my maps, but disappear if I close the side pane of starred places. Better than before I suppose, but not what I want for my trip soon... Grrrrr....

I was flipping out about this today as I'm on vacation and starred a bunch of things - turning off the "transit" setting fixed it right away - hit the double square? icon upper right and turn off transit, hopefully it'll work for you too!

Have the same problem since the last update. After you delete and reinstalled the app, the saved place are visible for several hours and then they disappear again. You have to do it over and over again.

Same issue for me :(
Recommended Answer
I’m having the same problem. I have thousands of precise field locations on my map that I use in place of an OS map. I rely on my map which was hours of painstaking work to create.
Uninstall and reinstall works for a short time. I don’t always have internet where I am though!
Has anyone resolved this?
Recommended Answer
Same problems here. I’m on vacation in Singapore and I’m pretty pissed that I can’t easily see the relative positions of all the locations I spent hours researching. Should have gone old school and just circled the locations on a paper map. 😡

Have just deleted Google maps on my ipad & re-installed, and all my saved starred places have re-appeared and are staying even after opening & closing the app several times. Thank heavens for that
Recommended Answer
This is stupid version!!!
All my pins of favourite places disappeared from the map on iPhone and IPad!!
I tried to restart it again several times but the results the same,
the function of “show on the map “ for saved places doesn’t work.
Google, it is bad work, the map became not useful and convenient.
Maps.me can give this service, Google now not.

Tried all the recommended fixes with no luck.
How do I report this to google?!
Thanks
Recommended Answer
By "base map", do you mean the default map!
Recommended Answer
Hi Betsy
Yes, I'm sorry, I do mean the default map - I'll change the wording in my post.
Recommended Answer
Is the base map what appears when I first open the App? If so, that was what I ALWAYS saw on my iPad and iPhone, and which, as of just now, is no longer working on my iPad.
I just opened on my iPad and it now showing all the subway stations and routes near my apartment - which it has NEVER done before. I’m not seeing my save pins. How do I turn off that view?
I’m getting my normal view without the subway on my iPhone, which continues to show the saved places on the map.
And remember: on my MacBook, where I’m viewing things in my browser, I see the pins ONLY when I’m zoomed way out, to “entire country” - they vanish when I zoom in.
Recommended Answer
I turned off the transit layer on my iPad and am back to base / default. Still no saved place pins.
Recommended Answer
Deleted and reinstalled the App. Saved places are showing. I’ll check back in an hour or so to see if they remain.

The markers on my iPhone app disappeared since I last saw them yesterday - I deleted and reinstalled the app and the markers reappeared.
I closed the app and re-opened - markers all gone again as others have found.
Changed to Default maps with Public Transport, Traffic, and Cycling turned off, and the markers still missing.

Add me to the list. Maps 5.14.13 and iOS 12.2. Hundreds of favorite, starred, and labeled places gone except in list view. None show on any map, default or satellite included, unless selected one at a time from the list. Not sure when it changed but has been within the past week for sure.

Solved...
Thanks to Dawid, for posting this:
That solves it for now. Close the app without satellite and reopen. Tadaa, pins reappear. Well done, and ipdate probably on monday eve CET.

Do we have any further news? My starred places seem to be there but the stars do not show up anymore in the map! If you click on the specific place, the star is there, but cannot see all the stars within the map as it used to be...
Recommended Answer
This is so painful trying to find starred and flagged places. Has anyone got a solution? I’ve tried everything and the only thing that worked for less than a minute was deleting the app and re installing.
Recommended Answer
My starred and labeled places on my map have been gone and the only way to see them is if i delete the app and re download it wich is a pain then they go away as soon as i close the app is there any way to fix this because i use this on a daily bases and not being able to see my marked places is an issue.
Recommended Answer
Having the same issue. Can’t see icons from any of my lists or saved places in my app.
Recommended Answer
*** Edit: this is only a temporary fix. The best solution so far is to select “standard view” (not satellite), then to close and reopen the app. ***
1) I uninstalled the app, 2) restarted my phone, and 3) reinstalled the app.
4) Then hit the top left drop down (menu), 5) tapped my account (the drop down arrow) and 6) tapped the name on my account (as if “selecting the account”).
All the stars (labels etc) appeared!
I’m not sure if the uninstall and reinstall was necessary looking back on it now.

My saved places doesn’t appear on the map anymore since the New Update. I have a ton of saved places because I am moving and I have to know what’s around my new town. This is the only map app that I can save places on and this is the best map app I used. I would love to see this get fixed. I have tried everything from logging out, restarting, deleting but nothing works.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Sitting here stranded in a foreign country trying to find a paper map because all the places we marked disappeared (also all public transit stations also gone).

I'm using iOS 12.1.4, and Google Maps version 5.14.3. Unfortunately I can't uninstall and reinstall right now coz I have offline maps saved and I am traveling, so have poor wifi to be able to reload them.

No no no no NO! Google, you must fix this!! I use this feature all of the time. I will literally be lost without my starred location on my map. I open the map, click on the previously starred location, then use that as my navigator. I know I can go to the list of starred locations, but my list is 248 deep. I cannot practically go through that list with every movement I make. I have an impairment that keeps me from being able to drive to places I know from memory. You can’t take away something that worked so well for me. Please fix this! Map version 5.14.3. IOS 12.1.4
Recommended Answer
Deleted and reinstalling the app worked for me.
Recommended Answer
Delete, re-install the app and stay in the map mode don’t change to satellite/transit nor others. If you change to others, your starred places will disappear afyer you close and reopen the app. Hope this help.
Recommended Answer
In my case, all pins including stars have been disapeared on maps. I found that they are saved in the background, but aren't just shown on the map. This happened on my iPhone 7 one week ago, and today my iPad was also infected....
Even if I reinstall Google Map several times, the situation is the same.
Please fix it!

Hi, just to add weight to this thread, I’m having exactly the same issue as described above. Starred places reappear after reinstalling but the soon disappear again. Hope google can sort a fix pdq. Very frustrating when you have loads of places saves ahead of a trip! Thanks all.

Just uninstalled the app and reinstalled it on my iphone using the default map and it seems to work fine
Recommended Answer
12.2 and 5.14.3 = no longer able to see the 100s of locations I've set pins for that I ABSOLUTELY NEED for my work. This is crazy because it's literally the only reason I used Google's version of maps and the amount of data entry required for me to fix this software bug is equivalent to when companies first became able to store their documents digitally and hired people to scan/save thousands of filing cabinets worth of paperwork. It's hard to believe a company as wealthy as Google doesn't research the potential of these problems before implementing updates. What's the point of beta testing if you're going to have the mentality of "deal with it when it happens"? Not going to lie, this is the kind of bush league mistake that has impacted my day to day on a scale that will cause me to abandon all things Google if not resolved promptly. Clearly their customers are only important when determining how to get us to use more of their product but their lack of urgency with this proves customer care is not their main focus but a result of their products abilities. The clocks ticking Google, I truly hope you prove this rant to be false. I wish you luck, but only because it benefits me greatly for you to find a fix.

Ok so I have a iPhone Xs, ios 12.2, and Google maps 5.14.3....maybe my rant was a bit of an overreaction because after I changed my map settings to "default" and then tapped on the transit selection I was using so that none of them were selected, then I hit "app switcher" in my "assistive touch" menu and swiped up to clear the app. When I reopened the app with the settings I changed to before clearing fortunately all my pins/saved places showed up again. Although this works for now it still needs to be corrected because satellite allows a visual of the properties and buildings I save, which allows me to be more efficient in my job and was my reasoning for never using a competitor's app, including Apple's version. Thank you for the temp fix but I'll be impatiently awaiting the complete solution.

I'm having the same issue. Work and home aren't showing on the map when I first open the app either. Even when I ask for transit directions my saved places are still not visible.
