Maps Not triangulating position, Other apps say "GNSS No Fix"
Starting from last week Tuesday, my blue dot started to act weird & it failed to triangulate my position. Since I was busy I didn't invest a lot of time to dive into the problem & instead worked with the "approximate" location that it was providing.
Fast forward to this weekend, I started searching online forums to get a solution to this problem.
1. The first step was to prove that there was a problem, I downloaded an app called "GPS Tester" and found that the GNSS wasn't fixing into my position, tried the same app in a different phone, worked fine. I was at the same location during the test to make sure that there's no interference that meddling with the receiver, that turned out to be false and it seemed like a hardware problem.
2. Forums asked me to switch on to "High Accuracy" mode which is the "default" from Android P, I bet most of you didn't know this.
3. Tried clearing cache from the boot screen, didn't help.
4. Tried clearing the memory of Google & it's associated apps, no go.
5. On Sunday, I tried to reset my phone to it's factory settings, miraculously post resetting the GNSS receiver started working like a charmz however it was short lived, as soon as I installed all my apps and the updates the dreaded GNSS issue was back. By now I was sure that the hardware was okay but somehow some setting was not allowing it to receive the signals.
6. By a matter of pure luck, I tried to switch on the developer mode of the phone (I believe most of you know how to do that, if you don't then do a quick search online). I was scrolling through the list & came across a segment that said "Force Full GNSS measurements" & it was turned off 😃. I've no idea who flipped this off but I gave it a go and restarted the phone (Now GNSS is working in full swing).
