The journey shown is not the train I am on
If I plan a journey and I pick a number 7 bus at 10AM but get on the 10:30 bus, maps switches to the bus I am on. This also happens on the trains to Tunbridge Wells to Hastings I can pick a train that is fast, but maps will detect if I have got on a slow train that stops at many more stations.
But maps does not work well when I am travelling on a train from Ramsgate where I may need to change at Ashford depending on the train. It on this occasion did not switch to the correct train once I had started the journey, and I nearly did not make the change I needed too.
The last problems are;
Where I am on the train with Wi-Fi, but it is very difficult to get the app to connect to the train I am on and a fake car ride to make the connection does not work as the train is faster than the car.
The last problem is when I want to go home, and I have no data connection, whether I have no data coverage or no SIM in the smart device. Or for some reason the map directions have stopped, and I want to continue to find my way on a small device, this is not such a problem with my Galaxy tablet which has a bigger screen but does not fit in my pocket.
By comparison, National Rail app does let me use timetables recently loaded even when there is no data. I do not need all public transport but just that relevant to where I am and had planned one journey so I am going to need the return journey later.
