Full screen map mode on Android no longer working

I used to be able to get a full screen map on Google Maps Android by tapping on the screen. A long tap would drop a pin.

Now a short tap drops a pin and a long tap does nothing.

How do I get a full screen map?

Hello,

As mentioned by another user swipe up the search bar and you'll get a full map screen.

I have the same issue. It's especially frustrating in satellite mode because I want to see the whole screen not all the extraneous words and symbols.

I figured it out! Swipe up on the search bar. It's a bit awkward and it didnt work until I left beta mode, uninstalled and reinstalled and restarted my phone. I also hate the dropping pin thing. I hope it works for you
