How to add a phone number to items in My Maps? (Or how to add numbers as text.)

I'm creating a custom map with a set of businesses on it. I can get the name and address to work fine. But I can't get the phone number added in a legible manner.

12345678900 works, but it's ugly and hard to read.

1(234)567-8900 switches to "1"

Putting a "+" in front does the same.

I know you can't make it clickable (and that's a crying shame), but there must be a way to tell Google to treat the number as text. How?

Color me paranoid, but why do you need to see the map to answer a question about text formatting?

Hi Joshua,

I want to verify want you want to achieve and how you have added it in Google My Maps. Generally the business phone number is also listed when you add it on Google My Maps (if it's added on Google Maps Listing)
