Do you have a map function for Truck Drivers?

This app is great for cars and other passenger vehicles, but not so good for Truck Drivers. Is there an app or function in this app for them? Many times we get lost or on situations and locations not designed for semi's.

Hi Treva,

Sorry but Google Maps does not offer this functionality.

There are other companies that do provide GPS solutions with this functionality, they do charge for this information as there is quite a lot of data to maintain.

What Casey Dennison said. Times 1000 percent. Problem is the lobbiest and those who advocate for gps businesses. Google isn't illiterate. They know exactly what they could do adding truck routes. But Rand and others would go out of business. Google would have a corner on the market. Like Microsoft getting broken up bc they controlled everything.  So I'm sure some Lobbiest went to the hill and had some congressman put his signature on a bill written by said lobbiest high dollar lawyer. In a language none of us can understand. But the verbiage prevents Google from taking over the map industry. So all truckers figure out a way that Rand TomTom Garmin etc can still get a piece of the pie and Google will gladly do it. It's def a money maker in the trucking industry. Everyone but the driver gets rich in transportation! Lol....

Rand McNally and Garmin Truck GPS are both garbage and always out of date.  I have purchased both for my semi and for the exorbitant cost, they just don't offer as much as google maps BUT (and this is a HUGE 'BUT') GOOGLE maps wont keep you from tiny streets, low bridges, weight restrictions etc.. that truck drivers really need to know.

C'mon Google, us truckers will pay for a good map or just partner with one of the other two.

We need a truckers route or “avoid parkways” option. It’s simple enough. Don’t understand why that not an option already.

I'm about to drive a big U-Haul truck, and a "truck" option would be amazing.

Can't you guys look into adding support for truckers? Even if you have to charge us a substantial one time amount to activate the service it'd be worth it. Like a pro version of the app.

You (google) already have all the data necessary to add routes for trucks... It wouldn't take any more information gathering to make it suitable for us.  PLEASE MAKE THIS A REALITY!!  YOU YOU WOULD ABSOLUTELY DOMINATE THE ENTIRE MARKET IF YOU DID!

YOU CAN PROGRAM FOR CARS, VANS, SEMIS OR ROAD TRAINS.
HEIGHT WIDTH AND LENGTH OF ANY VEHICLE.
GOOGLE MAPS WON’T LIKE THIS BUT TOMTOM MAPS ARE FAR BETTER.
I HAVE USED TOMTOM FOR THE LAST 15yrs BEATS GARMIN AND ANY OTHER NAVIGATION SYSTEM.
AS A FELLOW TRUCKER I KNOW IT WORKS. GOOD LUCK.

Truckers would subscribe to a Google maps truck version.

I gave up on a Garmin Dezl unit for the following reasons:

Routed me through a subdivision, because the subdivision had not declared "no trucks", but the truck route was "no trucks" unconditionally, instead of time of day restrictions, weekend restrictions, etc

The troopers are loathe to declare accidents on the interstates, to avoid convoys of backroad trucks, so that feature of accidents notification is useless.

Perhaps there now are interactive truck navigation units, but until then, I'll use Google maps.

All I ever wanted was an up to date MS streets and trips.....

Thank you for posting on the forum.
At the moment Google Maps does not support a Truck option for its Navigation mode.
The latest Garmin devices are getting a good name.
