Know when you’re taken off suggested route

Stay Safer tells you when your driver goes off your suggested Google Maps route and allows you to take action when this happens. You can also share your trip with people that you trust.

Important: This feature is only available in select countries.

Get alerts when your driver goes off-route

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Search for a route. Learn more about how to get directions and show routes.
3. At the bottom left, tap Directions Driving Stay safer Get off-route alerts.
4. Optional: If you want to share your trip with someone, tap Share live trip.

Tip: You’ll only get an alert if your driver goes off the suggested route for more than 0.5 kilometres.
