View & edit your Google Maps profile

Your profile showcases your public contributions to Maps, such as photos and reviews. On your profile page, you can:

• Edit your profile name and picture.
• Add a short bio to your profile.
• Find your past contributions and posts.
• Find the views and reactions on your contributions.
• Review your topic chips and stats.

Tip: Your name, picture, and bio always appears on your profile.

Change your name & picture

You’re in control of how you appear when you post publicly on Google Maps and Search. You can post using the name and picture on your Google Account, or create a custom name and picture.

Change your Google Maps profile name & picture

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Tap Contribute View your profile Edit profile .
3. Check the box next to "Use a custom display name & picture for posting."

   • To post publicly with your Google Account profile name and picture instead, uncheck the box next to "Use a custom display name & picture for posting."

4. Edit your custom name or picture:
   • To edit your picture: Tap your Profile picture.
     • You can choose from either Illustrations or Device photos.
   • To edit your name: Tap Display name and make the necessary changes.
5. Tap Confirm.

Change your Google Account name & picture

Important: When you change your Google Account name and picture, it appears across all Google products you use.

To go to the Google Account management page:

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Maps app .
2. Tap your profile picture or initial Manage your Google Account.

Add or edit your bio

Add a short bio to your profile to tell others about yourself and the places you care about.

Tip: Your bio is visible to everyone, even if your contributions are hidden on your profile.

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Tap Contribute   View your profile  Edit profile .
3. Write your bio (up to 200 characters).
4. Tap Save.

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Tap Contribute   View your profile  Edit profile .
3. Edit your bio.
4. Tap Save.

Remove your bio

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Tap Contribute   View your profile  Edit profile .
3. Delete your bio.
4. Tap Save.

View Local Guide level, points, and badges

If you're a Local Guide, you can view your level, points, and badges in the Google Maps app.

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Tap Contribute   View your profile.
3. Under your name, view your local guide level and points. Tap the arrow to view your badges and number of contributions.

About topic chips

Topic chips are based on what you publicly write about on Maps. They are displayed to help you find people that frequently review topics of interest. Topic chips can be based on cuisine, dishes, or other places you've written about.

Tip: You can use topic chips to filter a contributor's review and photos.
