Answer questions

To help update information on Google Maps, you can answer questions. The questions are based on information that Google has lower confidence in and that’s important to other users.

When you answer a question, your answer is combined with contributions from other users, business owners, and other sources.

Find the information from answers

The place information from answers is shown in different locations such as:

  • The business’ main page
  • The business’ “About” tab
  • Search results on Google

Tips:

  • Your name and individual answers aren’t displayed with this new information.
  • To help users understand new information, your answers can also be displayed as statistics.

Get prompts for places you’ve visited

To get questions about places you’ve visited, turn on Location History. At any time, you can view or edit your Google Maps timeline.

Answer questions on mobile

  1. On your mobile device, open the Google Maps app Maps.
  2. Sign in to your account.
  3. At the top, tap the search box.
  4. Enter the name of the place you’ve been to before.
    • On the map, you can also tap a place.
  5. At the bottom, tap the place’s name or address.
    • If you’ve visited or reviewed a place, a prompt “Know this place?” appears.
  6. To answer questions, tap Know this place?.
    • To dismiss, tap Close Close.

Tip: To answer questions, you need to have the latest version of Google Maps. Learn how to update Google Maps.

Delete your answers

  1. On your computer, open Google Maps.
  2. Sign in to your account.
  3. At the top left, click Menu Menu and then Your contributions and then Answers.
  4. Beside the answers you want to delete, click Delete .
  5. On the pop up, to delete your answer, click Delete.
    • To cancel, click Cancel or Close Close.

Tip: You can’t recover a deleted answer.
