Create a list of places

In Google Maps, you can create a list of places, like your favourite places or places that you want to visit.

Make a new list

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Tap You  New list .
3. Enter a name and description.
4. Select a list type:
   • Private: Only you can view and edit.
   • Shared: Share a link to view or edit.
5. At the top right, tap Save.

Save a place to a list

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Search for a place or tap it on the map.
3. At the bottom, tap the place name or address.
4. Tap Save.
5. Select an existing list or create a new one.
   • To create a new list, tap New list .

Save Your places to a list

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Tap You  See all.
3. Touch and hold the place that you’d like to select.
   • To select other places, select the tick box beside them.
   • To select all places, tap Select all.
4. Tap Save.
5. Select an existing list or create a new one.
   • To create a new list, tap New list .
6. Tap Done.

Customise your list icon

Important: You can’t edit the icons for these default lists:

• Favourites
• Want to go
• Starred places
• Labelled
• Travel plans

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Tap You .
3. Under 'Your lists', find the list that you want to update.
4. Next to the list, tap More Edit list.
5. On the 'Edit list' page, tap Edit icon.
6. Select your desired icon.
7. At the top right, tap Save.

Find your lists

To find your lists:

1. On your Android device, open the Google Maps app . 
2. Tap You .

Edit or delete a list

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Tap You .
3. Next to the list you want to edit or delete, tap More .
4. Choose an option:
   • Edit list: Change your list name, description, icon or places.
   • Delete list: Remove your list.
5. At the top right, tap Save.

Hide or show your lists

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Tap You .
3. Next to the list that you want to hide or show on the main map, tap More .
4. Choose an option:
   • Hide on your map: Hide your saved places.
   • Show on your map: Show your saved places.

Share your lists

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Tap You .
3. Open the list that you want to share.
4. Tap Share .
   • If you want others to collaborate on the list, tap Invite collaborators instead.

Anyone who can view your lists can also view the names and profile pictures of people who have joined the list. They can also view who's added or edited places and notes on the list.

Manage who can edit your shared lists

Invite others to edit a shared list

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Tap You .
3. Next to the list that you want to update, tap More Sharing options.
4. Under 'Edit options', tap Invite editors.
5. Choose who to share the link with.

Remove editors from a shared list

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Tap You .
3. Next to the list that you want to update, tap More Sharing options.
4. Under 'Edit options', turn off Let others edit this list.

Customise your list order

1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app .
2. Tap You .
3. Under 'Your lists', tap the list that you want to rearrange.
4. Tap Edit .
5. Turn on Customise list order.
6. Touch and hold the four blue lines to the left of the place title to change the order.
7. When you've finished, tap Save.

Save a list made by someone else

If you save a list made by someone else, their places appear in 'Lists you saved'. The places also appear on your main map in Google Maps unless you hide or show the list.

1. Open the link that you received.
2. Tap Save list.

Tip: To remove a list from your saved lists, tap Saved.

Export your saved lists

1. Go to takeout.google.com.
2. Make sure that 'Saved' is ticked in 'Create a new export'.
3. Tap Next step.
4. Select a destination, frequency and file format.
5. Click Create export.
