Blur or remove 360 imagery and Photo Paths

Street-level collections and Photo Paths are automatically blurred to obscure identifying information like faces and licence plates. For Photo Spheres, it's the photographer’s responsibility to decide which elements in their photos must be blurred to respect others’ privacy.

If Google is the photo owner, you can report a photo or request it to be blurred if it contains:

• Your face, home, or other identifying information.
• Anything that violates the Google-contributed Street View privacy policies.

Tips:

• Google no longer supports Photo Paths. New Photo Paths can’t be published to Google Maps.
• If Google doesn’t own the photo, the photo owner must blur the photo before it’s published. Report the photo using the instructions below if you think someone published a photo of you that violates the Maps User Contributed Content Policy.
• After a photo is blurred and published, the blur can’t be removed from the photo.

You can change or delete Street View photos you uploaded at any time. To blur or remove photos you don't own, you must send a request.

If you're the photo owner

Blur your Photo Spheres

Use a 3rd party publishing tool or a separate imagery editor to blur your photos before you upload them to Google Maps.

Delete a Photo Sphere from the Google Maps app

To delete a photo you’ve shared on Google Maps:

1. Tap Contribute   View your profile.
2. Under 'Photos', select the photo you want to delete.
3. Tap More   Delete this photo.

If you delete something that’s used somewhere else

Photos you delete on Google Maps are also removed from:

• Google Search
• Google Photos, if you have back up & sync turned on

Photos that you delete aren’t removed automatically from:

• Your phone or tablet’s gallery
• Google Drive, if you have sync turned on
• Google+

Delete a street-level collection from Street View Studio

1. In your browser, open Street View Studio.
2. Find the video you want to remove.
3. Tap More   Delete.

Tips:

• You can find Photo Spheres you published before November 2016 in Google Takeout. When you delete, move, share or hide Photo Spheres from Google Takeout, those photos are deleted from Google Maps.
• Before you delete a Photo Sphere, save the photo on your phone or upload the photo from your phone to your computer or other storage device. This way, you can use the photo again later.

Request to blur or remove a photo

To request a Google or Google Maps user-owned image be blurred or removed:

1. Open the Google Maps app .
2. Find and open the photo that violates the Maps User Contributed Content Policy.
3. Tap the screen once to show the menu bar.
4. In the top right, tap More .
5. Select Report a problem.
