Change Google Maps languages or domains

Google Maps automatically takes you to a country domain and shows place names in a country’s local languages. You can change a country domain or language by using Google Maps on your computer.

Change your Google Maps language

Google Maps automatically shows place names in a country’s local languages, but on your computer, you can change your map language.

To see place information in a different language, follow the steps below.

  1. On your computer, open Google Maps.
  2. In the top left, click the Menu .
  3. Choose Language.
  4. Select a language.

Notes:

Change your country domain

Google Maps automatically takes you to a country domain (the Google Maps URL address in your browser) and map view based on your location. Google Maps works with many country domains, like .de or .jp.

If your domain is wrong or you want to go to .com, you can change it. To change your domain, follow the steps below.

  1. On your computer, open Google Maps.
  2. In the bottom right, click the “maps.google.com” link.

Note: This feature is only available for Google Maps on your computer.
