Change your Google Maps language

Note: Languages are available based on your country domain. Some domains may not have multiple languages.

Google Maps automatically shows place names in a country’s local languages, but you can change your Map language in countries that have multiple official languages.

To see place names in a different language, follow the steps below.

  1. On your computer, open Google Maps.
  2. In the top left, click the main menu .
  3. Choose a language.

Change your country domain

Google Maps automatically takes you to a country domain and map view based on your location. Google Maps works with many country domains, like .de or .jp.

If your domain is wrong or you want to go to .com, you can change it. To change your domain, follow the steps below.

  1. On your computer, open Google Maps.
  2. In the bottom right, click the “maps.google.com” link.
