Contribute to Google Maps & earn points

When you sign up to be a Local Guide, you can contribute content to Google Maps and get points if it’s published. Collect points to increase your level and get Local Guide benefits.

How to get points

You can get points from many types of published content:

• Review and rate a place.
• Add photos to a place.
• Answer questions about a place.
• Edit a place's information or Edit a road on the map.
• Add a missing place.
• Check facts about places nearby.
• Respond to Q&As.
• Add and explore dishes.
• Add to Google Maps and earn badges.

Tip: As a Local Guide, you can move up in levels when you earn more points.

Check your points breakdown

View your contributions

1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Maps app .
2. Tap Contribute .
3. Tap your name.
4. Tap the arrow to open up the breakdown.
5. Your points show up in your profile.

Tip: When you make a contribution, it takes up to 24 hours for your points to appear on your profile.

Find content to contribute

You can find a list of things you can contribute to Google Maps. These might include:

• Places to review.
• Photos to add.
• Questions to answer about a place.
• Places that have missing information, like business hours or phone numbers.
• Places with information that must be verified, like business hours or closures.

To contribute to Google Maps:

1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google Maps app .
2. Tap Contribute   Contribute now.
