Give a place a private label

You can add a private label to places on your map. Labeled places show up on your map, in search suggestions, and in the "Your places" screen.

To add a label, follow the steps below.

  1. Open the Google Maps app Google Maps.
  2. Search for an address. Or drop a pin by tapping and holding a place on the map.
  3. At the bottom, tap the name of the place.
  4. Tap Label.

Notes:

  • To add a label to a business, go to the place’s page > More three vertical dots > Add label.
  • If you have Google contacts, they might appear as suggestions when you're adding a label. Learn more about adding a contact.
  • You need Web & App Activity turned on to give a place a label.
Edit a label
  1. Open the Google Maps app Google Maps.
  2. Tap the Menu > Your places > Labeled.
  3. Tap the label you want to edit.
  4. At the bottom, tap the place's label.
  5. Tap Labeled.
  6. Enter a new label name.
  7. Tap Update label.
Delete a label
  1. Open the Google Maps app Google Maps.
  2. Tap the Menu > Your places > Labeled.
  3. Beside the label you want to delete, tap More three vertical dots > Remove label.
  4. You'll see the message "Your label was removed." If you didn't want to delete the label, tap Undo.
Find a labeled place on the map
  1. Open the Google Maps app Google Maps.
  2. Tap the Menu > Your places > Labeled.
