Give a place a private label

You can add a private label to places on your map. Labeled places show up on your map, in search suggestions, and in the "Your places" screen.

To add a label, follow the steps below.

  1. Open the Google Maps app Google Maps.
  2. Search for an address. Or drop a pin by touching and holding a place on the map.
  3. At the bottom, tap the name of the place.
  4. Tap Label.

Notes:

  • To add a label to a business, go to the place’s page and tap More More and then Add label.
  • You need Web & App Activity turned on to give a place a label.
Edit a label
  1. Open the Google Maps app Google Maps.
  2. Tap Menu Menu and then Your places.
  3. Under "Labeled," tap a label you want to edit.
  4. At the bottom, tap the place name or address.
  5. Tap Labeled.
  6. Enter a new label name.
  7. Tap Done.
Delete a label
  1. Open the Google Maps app Google Maps.
  2. Tap Menu Menu and then Your places.
  3. Under "Labeled," find the label you want to delete.
  4. Beside the label you want to delete, tap More More and then Remove label
  5. You'll see the message "Your named place has been removed." If you didn't want to delete the label, tap Undo.

  1. Open the Google Maps app Google Maps.
  2. Tap Menu Menu and then Your places.
  3. Under "Labeled," tap a label you want to see on the map.
