See system and browser requirements

To find out which operating systems and browsers are compatible with Google Maps, read the list below.

Note: Google doesn’t charge you to use Google Maps, but the Google Maps app uses your phone or tablet’s data connection, and your mobile service provider might charge you for data usage.

Browsers and operating systems

The latest version of Google Maps work with the following operating systems and browsers.

To use the full Google Maps with 3D imagery and Earth view, you need the latest version of one of these browsers:

Note: If you're using Google Chrome, make sure to turn on hardware acceleration by going to More More and then Settings and then at the bottom, click Advanced. Under "System", turn on "Use hardware acceleration when available."

Operating systems

To use the full Google Maps with 3D imagery and Earth view, you need the latest version of one of these operating systems:

  • Mac OS 10.12.0 and up
  • Windows 7 and up
  • Chrome OS with an Intel CPU
  • Linux

Google Maps still works, without 3D imagery and Earth view, on the following operating systems:

  • Windows XP and Vista
Video card hardware and drivers
