See system & browser requirements for Google Maps

To find out which operating systems and browsers are compatible with Google Maps, read the list below.

Note: Google doesn’t charge you to use Google Maps, but the Google Maps app uses your phone or tablet’s data connection, and your mobile service provider might charge you for data usage.

The latest version of Google Maps work with the following operating systems and browsers.

To use the full Google Maps with 3D imagery and Earth view, you need the latest version of one of these browsers:

Tip: If you use Google Chrome, make sure to turn on hardware acceleration by going to More  More and thenSettings. At the bottom, click Advanced. Under "System," turn on Use hardware acceleration when available.

If your computer meets the requirements but you still aren't seeing the full version of Maps with 3D, check your browser. Some browsers block the WebGL technology used to make 3D images. To find out which browsers might cause problems, see this list for more information. To see if your web browser can use WebGL, check this website.

Operating systems

To use the full Google Maps with 3D imagery and Earth view, you may want the latest version of one of these operating systems:

  • Mac OS 10.12.0 and up
  • Windows 7 and up
  • Chrome OS with an Intel CPU
  • Linux
Video card hardware and drivers

Your computer's graphics card controls how graphics like pictures, videos, and 3D, are displayed. Search online to learn how to find out which graphics card you have

You won't be able to see the map in 3D with the following cards:

  • Intel 965GM
  • Intel B43
  • Intel G41
  • Intel G45
  • Intel G965
  • Intel GMA 3600
  • Intel Mobile 4
  • Intel Mobile 45
  • Intel Mobile 965
