Set or change your home and work address

Type less and get directions faster by setting your home and work addresses. On your phone or tablet, you can also choose an icon for your home and work.

Note: You must be signed in to set, edit, and see your home and work on the map. Learn how to sign in to Google Maps.

Set your home or work address

  1. Open Google Maps and make sure you're signed in.
  2. Click Menu Menu and then Your places and then Labeled.
  3. Choose Home or Work.
  4. Type in your home or work address, then click Save.

Note: If you're using Maps in Lite mode, you won't be able to set your home and work.

Change your home or work address

  1. Open Google Maps and make sure you're signed in.
  2. In the search box, type Home or Work.
  3. Next to the address you want to change, click Edit
  4. Type in a new address, then click Save.

Delete your home or work address

  1. Open Google Maps and make sure you're signed in.
  2. Click Menu Menu and then Your places and then Labeled.
  3. Next to your home or work address, click the Close.

Get directions to home or work

  1. Search for a place.
  2. Below the search box, click Directions Directions. The place will appear as your destination.
  3. Choose Home or Work for your starting point. The directions will appear on the map.
  4. To switch your starting point and destination, click Reverse .

Tip: You can also type home or work in to the directions fields to use one as a starting point or destination.

Fix problems seeing home and work in Maps

To use home and work when searching or using directions, you need to turn on Web & App Activity. If you don't see home and work in Maps, learn how to turn on Web & App Activity.
