Use Street View in Maps

With Street View, explore world landmarks, see natural wonders, and step inside places such as museums, arenas, restaurants, or small businesses.

Get to Street View in Google Maps

You can see Street View images by:

  • Searching for a place or address in Google Maps.
  • Clicking on a place marker in Google Maps.
  • Dragging Pegman to a place on the map.
  • Searching for a place or address in Google search.

Search for a place or address in Google Maps

  1. Open Google Maps.
  2. Search for a place or click a location on the map.
  3. On the left, select the image labeled "Street View."

Use Pegman to see Street View

  1. Open Google Maps.
  2. In the bottom right, click the Pegman . Then, drag Pegman to the area you want to explore.
  3. Unclick to drop the Pegman on a blue line, blue dot, or orange dot on the map.

Search for a place or address in Google Search

  1. Open Google search.
  2. Search for a place or address.
  3. Click the image labeled "Street View."

See street-level imagery from the past

You can see old street-level imagery from the Street View's archives in the new Google Maps. For example, see how your neighborhood has changed over time.

  1. Drag the yellow Pegman onto the map.
  2. Click Time .
  3. At the bottom, use the slider to go further back in time.
  4. To exit Street View, go to the top left and click the back arrow.

Note: Historic imagery may not be available for every place that has Street View imagery.

Navigate in Street View

  • To travel, hover your cursor in the direction you want to go. Your cursor becomes an arrow that shows which direction you're traveling.
  • To see where you might go next, look for the X. Click once to travel to the X.
  • To look around, click and drag your mouse. You can also use the arrows to the left and right of the compass.
  • To zoom in or out, scroll with your mouse or two-finger zoom with a touchpad. You can also use + and - below the compass.
  • To position your Street View north, go to the bottom right and click the compass.
  • To jump between streets, go to the "Back to Map" window in the bottom left and click the blue highlighted routes.

Blur or remove a Street View image

If you find an image that contains personal information or illegal content, follow the steps below to request blurring or removal.

Note: Photos contributed by people using Maps are only removed for legal and policy violations. Google doesn't apply blurring to these photos.

  1. Open Google Maps.
  2. In the bottom right corner, click the yellow Pegman . Then drag it onto the map.
  3. Find the Street View image. Make sure that you see the exact image that you want to report.
  4. In the bottom right, click Report a problem.
  5. Complete the form.
  6. Click Submit.

We'll review your report as fast as we can. If you entered your email address in the form, we'll email you with any changes to the status of your report.
