Choose the fastest driving route and estimate how long your trip will take based on current traffic conditions.

See traffic information

  1. Open the new Google Maps.
  2. Type “traffic” or “traffic near paris” in the search box.
  3. Press Enter.

You can also view traffic conditions for the surrounding area awhile viewing directions on the map. Click Show traffic on the directions info card when you search for a route.

Color meanings

The colors indicate the speed of traffic on the road compared to free-flowing conditions. For highways, green means there is a normal speed of traffic. The more red the roads become, the slower the speed of traffic on the road. Gray indicates there is no data available. 

See typical traffic for an area

Going on a road trip this weekend? You can see typical traffic for an area based on day of week and time of day.

  1. Type “traffic” or “traffic near paris” in the search box.
  2. Press Enter.
  3. Click the button next to “Typical traffic.”
  4. Choose your day and time by clicking and sliding. Your selected day and time appear below “Typical traffic.”

Traffic incidents

When using traffic view, directions, or navigation, you can see traffic incidents right on the map. Traffic incidents include several types of delays:

  • Accidents
  • Construction
  • Road closures
  • Other incidents

Click the traffic incident icon on the map view to see more details.
