Your search results and suggestions

Searching on Google Maps is easier and faster when you're signed in to your Google Account and have Web History turned on. You can get suggestions and search results relevant to you

  1. Sign in to the new Google Maps with Web History turned on.
  2. Start typing a search, like “restaurants” in the search box.
  3. Results relevant to you will appear with a clock icon. For example: places you've searched for
  4. Click a result to see it on the map and get more information.

Your suggestions

If you’re signed in to your Google Account, you may see suggestions based on your past searches and interactions you’ve had across Google's products. Here are some examples of where your suggestions come from:
  • Recent searches, including searches for directions
  • Places you've starred on desktop or mobile
  • Places you’ve rated, reviewed, or shared Google+ posts from
  • Your home and work locations, if set by you on Google Maps or Google Now
  • Places similar to the types of places listed above

To see these suggestions in the new Google Maps, start typing a search in the search box. If relevant, these results appear with a clock icon.

Your results

You can find search for and see information from your other Google products, like Gmail, without having to leave Maps. View your upcoming flight status, restaurant reservations, or next dentist appointment info right in Google Maps. This feature is available for the new Google Maps in the US only.

Privacy and security of your results

Only you can see the search results and suggestions that come from your Google products, and only when you’re signed in to Google. All of that content is encrypted for security.

You can manage your search results for content from Maps and other Google products from Web History.

To turn Web History on or off:

  1. Open the new Google Maps.
  2. Click the gear icon.
  3. Click Web History.
  4. Once in Web History, click the gear menu and select Settings.
  5. Click the Turn off or Turn on button.
