Post photo updates of a place

On your mobile device, you can post photo updates of a place. These updates are visual posts that you contribute to so that you can share updates about a place, like:

  • Changes to business hours
  • Seasonal menus
  • New products or services
  • Renovations
  • Exhibits
  • COVID-19 updates

For places that have multiple photo updates, the most recent update shows up first.

Post a photo update

  1. Open the Google Maps app Maps.
  2. Search for a place or tap it on the map.
    • If you get multiple locations in your search, tap the location you want to update.
  3. At the bottom, tap the place's name or address.
  4. At the top, tap Updates.
  5. Scroll and tap Post a photo update.
Tip: You can post multiple photos in the same update. You can also post multiple photo updates for the same place. 

Find photo updates

You can find photo updates that you or others made.

Find your photo updates

  1. Open the Google Maps app Maps.
  2. Tap Contribute Contribute and then View your profile
  3. Under "Reviews," find your photo update.

Find photo updates from others

  1. Open the Google Maps app Maps.
  2. Search for a place or tap it on the map.
    • For full photo updates, tap Updates.
    • For individual photo updates, tap Photos.

Delete photo updates

When you delete photo updates from Google Maps, they're automatically deleted from Google Search.

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app Maps.
  2. Tap Contribute and then View your profile
  3. Under "Other contributions," find your photo update.
    • If you can’t find your photo update, you can find the photo for the photo update under “Reviews.” In "Reviews," you can only delete individual photos and not the whole update.
  4. Tap the update or photo you want to delete.
  5. In the top right, tap Remove Delete and then Delete.

Photos you delete from Google Maps aren't automatically deleted from:

Tip: If you remove all the photos that are part of a photo update, all text in the update is also removed. As long as there are still photos in the photo update, the remaining photos and text still shows up.

Report a photo update

If you find something inappropriate or inaccurate in a photo update, let us know.

  1. Search for a place or tap it on the map.
  2. Tap Updates. Then, select the photo update you want to report.
  3. In the top, tap Report Report a problem.
  4. Select or enter the reason for your report.
