Personalize your Google Maps experience

Discover new places based on your interests with Google Maps. We use your saved preferences, Location History, and Web & App Activity to suggest locations and content you might like. We also use this information to create a “Your match” score. Learn more about how to get matches.

To turn these features on or off, learn how to manage your Location History or change your Web & App Activity setting.

Manage your preferences

You can update your topics in your Maps Settings. 

To add or remove topics in your set preferences: 

  1. Open the Google Maps App .
  2. In the top right, tap your profile photo.
  3. Tap Settings and then Manage your preferences.
  4. Add or remove your set preferences:
    • Tap “Interested,” then review and update the topics that interest you.
      • To add a new interest: Tap “Add interest,” then tap a topic you like.
      • To remove an interest: Tap Remove  next to the topics you’re not interested in.
    • Tap “Not interested,” then review and update the topics you’re not interested in.
      • To add a topic to your “Not interested” preferences: Tap “Add not interested,” then tap a topic you’re not interested in.
      • To remove a topic from your “Not interested” preferences: Tap Remove  next to the topics you want to remove.

About preferences

The preference page contains: 

  • Dietary preferences: Set your preferred categories, like vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, alcohol-free, halal, and kosher.
  • Interested: Set your dining preferences for options you’re interested in.

Tap a topic to find a list of:

  • Preferences you added yourself.
  • Preferences suggested by Google based on your saved preferences, Location History, and Web & App Activity. You’ll find “Suggestion from Maps” in the category’s description.
