Search and browse

Search the map

Searching the map will help you find existing locations and features. You can search for features in Map Maker multiple ways.

Use the search bar:

  1. Type the name, category or address in the search bar and click the blue search button.
  2. Results appear in the left panel next to a marker.
  3. To clear your search, click the “X” to the right of the search bar.

Use Find near this point:

  1. Zoom into the area that interests you.
  2. Right-click on the map in the spot where you want to find features.
  3. Select Find near this point from the drop-down.
  4. The viewport and the left panel will display nearby features and their markers.
  5. Click a feature's marker in the viewport or in the left panel to open an info window.

Use the Select a Place tool:

  1. Hover-over Edit on the toolbar and click Select a Place .
  2. Click the location where you want to see nearby features.
  3. The viewport and the left panel will display nearby features and their markers.
  4. Click a feature's marker in the viewport or in the left panel to open an info window.

Browse the map

To find places on the map, you can also use the Browse feature:

  1. Click Browse on the toolbar.
  2. Select Places or Lines:
    • Places: Find places of interest, administrative features, and more.
    • Lines: Find line features like roads or railway tracks.
  3. Use the category drop-down to narrow your search.

You can also try an Advanced browse to find specific pending features or layers:

  1. Click Browse on the toolbar.
  2. Select Advanced.
  3. Customise your search in the left hand panel.
