Introduction to reviews

The Map Maker review process lets you validate edits made by other mappers. To ensure quality, most of the edits need to be reviewed before they’re published on Google Maps.

Why review edits?

You are the expert of your own area - and we trust you to help us determine which edits are accurate. Be a part of improving the map.

Edits are sent for review for several reasons:

  • To provide feedback to new editors and help them understand the mapping process
  • To provide feedback on more complex edits
  • To ensure sensitive edits meet the Reviewing Guidelines

Get your edits reviewed faster

The more edits you review by other mappers, the more likely your edits appear sooner in the reviewing queue. This helps your edits get published faster on Google Maps.
