How to stop my nickname from displaying in front of my email address

My middle name displays in bold letters in front of my email address which confuses the recipient. I tried making the change under Accounts and Email>Send email as. I made many attempts in the past to remove the name or edit with no success.

Can someone please shed some light on how to go about making the change? It would be much appreciated! Thank you.

Hi Rob, if you fixed the entry in the Send Mail As entry and that doesn't change what is sent, then you are probably not sending your messages using the browser at mail.google.com.  What software are you using to send your messages?

There are five different places where your name shows in a gmail.com account:
  1. As your actual email address (or username).  You can't alter this.
  2. On your account profile - seen when you hover the cursor over the avatar at the top right of the Gmail page.  To change this:
    1. Click on the avatar then Manage your Google Account
    2. Click on Personal info then your name
    3. Click on the pencil icon to open the editor
  3. On sent messages as the sender name (when using a browser at mail.google.com).  To change this:
    1. Click on the Settings icon (the cog) then See All Settings
    2. Click on the Accounts and Import tab
    3. Click on edit info at the right of the Send mail As entry
  4. In the hovercard that pops up when you hover the cursor over the sender name.  To change this:
    1. Open the contacts manager at contacts.google.com
    2. Use the search bar to find the contact record that holds the wrong name
    3. Delete or edit the record
  5. On messages sent from some other software or app.  To change that check the settings in that software or app.
If you are using a G Suite account (Gmail with a company domain), there are other settings.
