you have to use a pc

Gmail help  reference on deleting mail >> https://support.google.com/mail/answer/7401?hl=en

before you delete i suggest you read this http://gmail-miscellany.blogspot.com/2012/10/how-gmail-stores-your-mail.html  because gmail only has 1 copy of each email and it is only in one place no matter how many labels it has so if you delete it from one view you are deleting the one and only copy of that email

also note - if you have conversation view on  it affects how you delete emails - if you get a reply to a sent email  , OR you reply to a received email and you delete the email or the reply   - they will both be deleted unless you pull down the arrow on the right of the email you want to delete and select delete this message ( or turn conversation view off in gmails settings >> click the gear  picture in gmail > settings >  in the general category turn conversation view off > save  http://support.google.com/mail/answer/5900?hl=en )

to select multiple mail   ( see image below - it may take a few seconds to load  )
  1. Open the label (or, your Inbox, or Sent Mail, etc) containing the messages you'd like to select.
  2. Click the Select: All link above your messages.
  3. Click the link that says Select all [number] conversations in [current view].
  4. Select the action you'd like to do
to search eg by date / sender etc if you need to delete or move or action certain mail only  see Using advanced search

OK I'VE FOUND OUT HOW TO SIMPLY AND EASILY DELETE BULK EMAILS IN GMAIL!!!!
You're Welcome! (It only took me 5 years to figure it out...and I just cleaned out 37000 emails in a minute // Must do this on a computer)

1) Click on little box to 'Select ALL' emails (Its above the word 'Primary')
2) When you do this, a grey line appears underneath saying '50 emails selected' BUT!!! IN BLUE TO THE RIGHT IS " SELECT ALL X number of emails in X folder " >> CLICK ON THIS
3) NOW LOOK UP TO THAT BOX YOU FIRST SELECTED AND CLICK ON THE RUBBISH BIN OR 'DELETE FOREVER' (whichever is visible)

VIOLA!! GONE!!!!!  Hooorah!!

Good going A M 7248 but it's a bit different on my end.

1) You Click All or just click the check box.
2) Select all conversations that match this search
3) Then you click the delete little garbage pail looking thing.
4) Then you get "Confirm bulk action
This action will affect all conversations in this search. Are you sure you want to continue?"

I'll add a little visual to make it easier to see. I couldn't have done it with out you A M 7248

I have done all of the bulk deletions as described above and there is NO CHANGE in my reported usage is. And it's not just a matter of clearing cache or cookies because the same numbers are reported across devices. I have also deleted trash. Today is the third time in several months that I have made massive deletions, and my usage stats stay the same.

Lisa McKinney 3470 "across devices" could be the problem. You remove it on one but it's still on the other. Who knows, I wish you luck.
