Unable to import AOL email: aol account not validated with correct password

Trying to import AOL emails continuously to gmail. Have followed procedure but when asked to provide account name and password, the two are not validated. Have verified AOL password and even changed it. Same thing still happening.

Please check if setting up 2-step verification on your AOL account and then using an application specific password helps and post an update.

It doesn't. This has been going on for almost a year now.
Apparently, the old issue of AOL POP3 still continues. However, Gmailify works with AOL. I was just able to successfully add my AOL account to my Gmail. Here are the steps:
  1. Sign into Gmail.
  2. Visit the Gmail Accounts & Import setting tab, scroll down to Check email from other accounts.
  3. Click on Add an email account.
  4. Enter the AOL email address.
  5. Select the Gmailify option.
  6. You'll be taken to the AOL sign in page. Sign in using your AOL username and regular password.
Once added, you can check the sync status by revisiting the Gmail Accounts & Import setting tab, Check email from other accounts section. Here is the screenshot.

We won't be able to help with your access issues for your AOL account. For that, you would need to contact AOL support.

If you need assistance with bringing over your AOL emails to Gmail, depending on the process you wish to employ, you can refer to this blog for screenshot and other details - https://blogs-on-gmail.blogspot.com/2020/08/fetching-aol-emails-into-gmail.html

Please know that you will not be able to bring over AOL Messages to Gmail using POP3.
