I just had that problem today with my work account (not this e-mail account, but it's up at the same time in a tab in a different Chrome window on my MacBook).

Last week I'd been working on a long gmail message draft.  It was still there at various times over the weekend.  This morning I finished it, addressed it, and hit send - and got an error message saying it wasn't sent and wasn't saved.  It simply vanished >:(

All this at home, on our home WiFi as usual - computer hasn't left the house.

I just got a Windows 10 laptop and I only use my gmail account to handle personal e-mails. I think that after the latest Windows 10 update (version 2004), all my previously sent e-mails can no longer be seen in my sent box: they disappeared. I've checked in my gmail account, in my outlook, live-mail on my old Windows 7 PC, on my i-pad, on my i-phone, they are all gone from the Sent folder! I think the last Windows 10 update screwed up big time. How can I recover all my sent e-mails back to my sent folder?

Henry,

There's a known problem with Gmail via the Mail app in Windows 10, but it is not known to exist in webmail. Although emails sent through the Mail app are not stored correctly, I'm not aware that previously sent mail are being deleted.

Please note that users of Windows 10 computers are under no obligation to use the installed Mail app. Your best bet is direct access via the mail.google.com web page.

Not sure there's a way to recover the missing Sent messages, however, you can try this;  some appear to have luck.
  1. Use the Gmail security checklist to secure your account.
  2.  Fill out this form to find out whether your messages can be recovered
(Step 1. must be completed before Step 2.)  Google will return, if possible, only what is available, which may be some, none, or all of the missing messages.

Hi, I just had the same problem that everyone is reporting. I was using my computer, windows 10, I had my mail open in Chrome, and i spent several hours writing a mail to complain about some neighbour problems... All the time he was saying draft saved . Well , I finished this mail, i hit send and a week later, (today) i was wondering why the person didn't respond, so i went to check my sent mails and it was not there. I froze!! Really, it's a 3 months problem that i was trying to solve with that mail... But then i thought, thats ok, i will work the draft and "send again". But no, it's not in the draft tab!! How it dissaperead like that?? If it was sent, it should be in the sent folder, if it isn't it should be in the draft, at least some portion of what i wrote... I remember the mail (the person and some parts of the text) so i did a search and nothing, i looked each folder, spam, trash, everything, i looked in the setting to see even the block mails , nothing... I was obligatted to send a "did you received my firt mail last week" mail to see more about it...

Please someone help me!!! I really need that mail, here in France we need to prouve every step that we made to solve a problem to pass to the next 'stage' of the battle...
Ps.: sorry for my english if something it's easy to understand please ask me!!

Hello Tony_b,
I am using an iMac Mail App to access my work email which is hosted on Gmail. My work email address does not end with @gmail.com but yesterday I had the same issue. I had written very long an important correspondence that took me 5 hours, I pressed SEND and they left, or I had no warning message indicating that they couldn't be sent so I assume they were sent (even got the Send sound). This morning when I came back online those emails were nowhere to be found, the recipients never got them and I couldn't find them in the Outbox, Draft or Sent folders, nor on my iMac Mail app or Gmail browser.
Is Google or Gmail acknowledging this and how on earth can this emails be lost??? for the sake of internet these guys are doing the most terrible job and bloody Google should put someone to fix it right now!!!

HAs anyone found a way to recover this emails??????

User 18383035394942923156,

Please ask the recipients to look in Spam or Trash for your email.

Yes Rachel. This is a known problem with the Windows 10 Mail app. Still awaiting a fix from Microsoft.

Hi Tony_b,
In my case no-one received the emails. They simply disappear to limbo. Has anyone managed to recover those emails either from Mail App or Gmail>??????

Tony_b my recipients looked in every single inbox, junk, spam, everywhere. The emails never reached them, they didn't stay in my outbox or draft, cause they left when I pressed sent and disappear....any advise???

Caro,

I don't have any other suggestion right now. Normally you'd get a bounce message if your email didn't successfully reach the recipients.
