Want to know how to mass delete emails on gmail app. Don’t have laptop anymore but am using my iPad.

Need a way to mass delete gmail emails that have accumulated in my inbox. Just want to clean house so to speak...feel like I need a fresh start. But how? Am only using my iPad these days or an android cellphone.

Ron Hesse and Billy Wells, thank you both for challenging this nutty status quo. One might think, in reading these responses, that many experts were unaware how often people access Gmail these days via cell phone. And I just love it when Apple, a long a virtual partner of Google — new phones’ Mail app invariably presents multicolor, logotyped Gmail option in configuration display — says of a Gmail/Mail app-interface constraint, “Sorry, but really that’s on Google.”

Can you not go Gmail without using the app. Request desktop version?

I’ve been using the native mail app on my iPad.  All of my email accounts merge to a single inbox.  It’s a pain, but I am able to edit, select and delete multiple emails.  I recently downloaded the gmail app and now I remember I deleted if for this very reason.

@roland: no, I also cannot delete my inbox mail because ALL I USE IS MY SMART PHONE. I don't work on a computer anymore since I had to retire.
But I still receive mass email through Google accounts and would love to delete them from phone.
Thanks.

on a phone/ipad you can try this - if you use a browser to access gmail at the bottom of inbox you may see a blue link saying desktop

if you click that you may have select all BUT you have to 'pinch out' a LOT to use it so its not ideal

someone else posted this but i havent tried it :

Just use your Gmail account in the Spark Email App. You can search, select all and delete. It’s 100 times easier than the actual GMAIL app.

I have played around with the Spark Email app - its nice, but if I recall it doesnt have a desktop version which makes it useless to me. I have been using TwoBird for the past 2-3 months and realy liking that workflow. Havent touched the gmail app or website in a while

Thank you for the two suggestions!!! Finally something to try. Btw - I got on a library computer/desktop and used the full website. Guess what? Doing a search for specific senders that have 1000’s of emails ONLY shows about a 100 at a time! Oh lovely...  So in reality even the desktop functionality is hindered/throttled. :(

you cant see more than 100 per page but thats irrelevant for mass deletions
